Guide to application interfaces in Elan
The top level menu items in Elan give access to the different sections of the application. The currently selected item is highlighted (in this case, Users.
When a user selects a section the new page shows a submenu. The sub menu used in each section follows a consistent pattern; the screenshots below show a sample of the sub menus for selected sections.
Typically in Elan pages, the first few menu items are enabled, while the remaining items are disabled. The greyed-out menu items become available once an individual items is selected using the View or Edit links.
For example, in the Users section, the initial state of the page is like this:
Choosing to view the record for Constance Rubin results in a change to the enabled menu items.
This is also a typical approach to information display in Elan; it is a tabbed interface, each showing the relevant information grouped into related topics.
Filtering of information is also common to many of the sections in Elan. The precise filtering options varies according to the nature of the information shown in the section, and these options can be expanded using the More... button.
Note
The More... button acts as a toggle; to change back from the Advanced to the simple filtering options, click again on the More... button.
